Top 5 iPhone Apps

Less than three months ago, the way I work changed drastically.  I didn't learn a time management technique, or take a class to learn a new skill set.  I got an iPhone and work will never be the same again.  While many iPhone apps exist for entertainment, there are plenty that will help you work more efficiently and truly define what it means to be "working remote".  Here is a list of my top 5 (free) iPhone apps:

  1. RDP Lite - This app connects with any RDP enabled windows machine.  I have used this to run marketing campaigns, and access SQL Server.  This app is easy to configure, and can allow you to virtually work from anywhere.
  2. Ping Lite - Anytime you provide hosted solutions for clients, you need to be able to quickly check servers if any issues are reported.  This app not only allows you to ping a server, it also has the option to do a Traceroute.
  3. WriteApp - This app offers handwriting recognition.  Although, if your handwriting is anything like mine it may not benefit you much.  The main reason I love this app is that it allows horizontal typing for emails.
  4. MobileFiles - I was worried that I may lose some functionality after moving from a SmartPhone to an iPhone, specifically around being able to access key spreadsheets from my phone.  This app allows me to do that.  While it is not as simple as saving a document on your phone and accessing it, it still allows you to have the ability to access critical documents no matter where you are.
  5. There are too many other apps that I could name to round out my top 5.  I really couldn't narrow down one more to select.   That being said, there is one app that would easily make my top 5 if it existed.  I hope to one day have an app for Microsoft Office Communicator

This is just a list of apps that I have found to help me work, no matter where I am.  I am anxious to hear what apps others have used to be productive from their iPhone.  Let me know in the comments section.
